Pre-heat oven to 400 degrees.
Combine flour, baking powder, cinnamon and salt and set aside.
Cream butter and sugar until sugar is dissolved. Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating well, scraping down sides of bowl after each addition. Add flour and buttermilk alternately, beginning and ending with flour. Sprinkle chocolate chips on top before folding it in with the last of the flour.
Using an ice cream scoop, scoop batter onto cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes; lower heat to 325 and bake 10 minutes more, or until just golden.
These scones are best when served still slightly warm.
The un-baked scones freeze very well for later use.
We made these this morning, baked a few and froze the rest. Wow are they good. A very fine crumb and just delicious. Thanks Danielle!
