Spiced Pecans

By Yvonne Martin of The White Oak Inn

I love salads. The perfect salad for me has to have something salty and something sweet and something crunchy.

These spiced pecans cover three out of the four bases! They make a great salad topping, particularly when paired with apples, pears or oranges (Blood oranges shown in this photo) and a Feta or goat cheese. They’re also very tasty to simply eat as a snack.

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 - 12 oz. bag pecan halves

Instructions:

  1. Line a cookie sheet with aluminum foil. Preheat over to 325 degrees.

  2. Melt the butter in a skillet.

  3. Stir in cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, cayenne and sugar and stir to combine well.

  4. Add the pecans and stir until coated with butter mixture.

  5. Pour onto the cookie sheet and put in the oven. Bake for about 15 minutes, or until nicely toasted. Store in a ziploc bag or airtight container.
