We love our pets! Some are cat people. Some are dog people. And several are both. Over our nine years together, we have welcomed new pets and mourned the losses of our cherished furry friends. So it is no surprise that we all love Lucy.
Lucy is Lynnette’s “secret weapon,” and William Henry Miller Inn’s official greeter. Lynnette is the Broad with the biggest heart as evidenced by the numerous times her Ithaca, NY, community has presented her with awards for community service. But Lynnette’s heart is not only focused on her community, but it extends to animals as well.
Four years ago there was a dachshund/chihuahua mix at the local dog rescue center that no one seemed to want. She was quite old and had only one tooth. But that didn’t deter Lynnette, who fell in love with little Lucy on first sight. Lucy came home with Lynnette on Christmas Eve. Since then, Lucy has become Lynnette’s “Velcro dog,” always at Lynnette’s side.
Each morning, Lucy rises before dawn and accompanies Lynnette while she makes breakfast at the inn. And Lucy has become a real foodie, just like the 8 Broads. Bacon has been known to disappear, and she joins staff on each weekly ice cream day. Lucy greets staff warmly each morning and guests each afternoon.
Lucy has met some of the Broads but not all of us yet. No matter – we all love Lucy.
